Dragonera villa ruins with the coast
Located south of Rovinj and accessible from south (from Fažana and Peroj), Barbariga is a resort settlement. The area was inhabited as early as the ancient Roman times, out of the several Roman villas the ruins of a large one are excavated and exhibited in Dragonera. On top of that, one of the largest olive mills (operating with 10 millstones) of the ancient Mediterranean was found in Barbariga. Today's settlement was built in the 1980s next to the medieval manor and domain center of the Barbarigo family - hence the name Barbariga.
